I've never been to Norway nor Helen to Scandinavia, so though it's the worst time to visit ( short dark days and very cold),it's not to miss.
Booking.com comes up with a hotel, right in the centre, rooms at £50 per night, customer approval 8.5. That's it, we're off.
Thursday pm we set off for the Holiday Inn Express, Stansted in flurries of snow and an ominous weather forecast.
Next morning at 6-45, this is what we encountered.
Now then, we've seen this before. Whereas a metre more of this in Oslo causes no problems, here it could spell big trouble.
We had timed it generously for our 8.45 take off..... but for one delayed until 11.20 we had plenty of time to unplan the things that we were going to do today. As you can see the weather was so bad outside nobody could possibly cope!
Queues the downside of Ryanair. The couple in blue in front of us shared the same plane, then bus, then train, then hotel with us. We had a good look round the bedroom when we got there!
Next a bit of Norweign transport infrastructure.
A folksy wood carver's shop
Here comes the train
We stopped at Ski station. This is where skiing was first invented, of course.
Norweign wood and sort of fiord.
Our bedroom and facilities. Best described as small but perfectly formed. Note some examples of the more than usually helpful advisitory signage.

ReplyDeleteI think you will find "ski" is more famous for producing low fat yoghurt in the 1980's!
ReplyDeleteThe white stuff out there was definitely snow not yoghurt. My money is still on the skiing (nordic of course).
ReplyDeleteGlad you got there ok.
